SVA - Joining SVA

Who can join:

The requirements for membership in Single Volunteers are:

You must be at least 21 years of age.
You must be single - i.e. not married or currently in a committed relationship. Our events aren't intended for "couples" to attend.
If you agree to participate in a project, you need to show up at the project site on time, sometimes with the necessary tools (as to be explained by your project leader). We encourage volunteers to stay through the end of the project and join us after for a social activity, typically dinner/drinks.

How to join:

Joining is simple - read the Membership Agreement, fill out the online Membership Application, and submit it electronically. There are no membership dues.

Upon joining SVA, you will also receive an invitation to join SVA's Yahoo! Group. Members of SVA use the Yahoo! Group for its Message Board and Calendar feature. Note that you will need to establish a Yahoo! ID to fully realize all of the Yahoo! Group's benefits. The Yahoo! Group is located here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/singlevolunteersofaustin/

Please note - the operations of SVA depend greatly on our website and email communications. We have hundreds of active members, and this has undoubtedly proven to be the only practical method of running the organization.

Thus, to be an active and effective participant in SVA, a member should have a reliable way of accessing the Internet. This is so they can check their email and the SVA website on a frequent and timely basis. New events may suddenly appear, and they can fill up quickly.

Members will also need reliable and independent transportation in order to get to our events.
