What is SVA?

Our Mission: The goal of SVA is to help others through our gift of volunteering. As a group, we give back to the community while interacting with other volunteer-oriented singles.

Our History: Single Volunteers of Austin (SVA) is one of 28 chapters of Single Volunteers, which was started in Vermont in 1996. The national non-profit corporation, based in Washington D.C., provides guidance, information, and a framework under which the chapters operate.

The first meeting of SVA was held in Austin on Tuesday, March 21, 2000, with fourteen people in attendance. Since then, the group has been growing, primarily through word of mouth and the Internet. SVA now has over 1200 members on its email list.
